Thanks Sue. The Dunnock was one of those opportunities you grab. I was photographing something else when I spotted the bird sunbathing.

They’re a European species. They were known as Hedge Sparrow for years but they’re not a member of the Sparrow family. There was a campaign to start calling them Hedge Accentor as they’re related to the Alpine Accentor but the name never really caught on. Apparently the species has been introduced to New Zealand.
