A contribution to Becky’s July Squares: Blue photo challenge, day 30 of the 31 days of July.
With only two days left I decided to ignore the various blue birds, flowers and landscapes to go with another blue insect.
This is a Holly Blue Butterfly photographed on Holly in Hatherton, Cheshire, England.

There are such a wealth of blue butterfly species that identifying the exact kind can be very tricky at times. With good images like this that task would be easier though!
Thank you. I find the Holly Blue Butterfly one of the easier blue’s to identify.
That’s an amazingly detailed shot!
Thanks Elaine.
superb photograph . . you must have been waiting a while for this!
Thanks Becky. There was a lot of Holly in the garden so we got the butterflies. There must have been caterpillars in the spring but I never found any. IIRC the second brood each year feed on Ivy but I don’t remember how much Ivy was in the garden.
A lovely butterfly image
Thanks Sue. I have a few blue butterfly species so I went with one of the bluer ones.
And it worked!
