This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: Night.
I had a few ideas for the challenge before deciding to go simple, the prompt is night so photos taken at night. I then decided on only two photos taken about 40 years apart.
Inside a graveyard at night, Wybunbury, Cheshire, England. Taken in the late 1970s when I was a photography student. Part of an art school project although after all these years I don’t remember the brief. I do remember getting permission to take them. Nowadays there would probably have to be a healthy and safety assessment before entering such a dangerous location at night.
Wiarton Village Fair fireworks. Taken one year ago today. This year’s fireworks will be going off in around 15 hours. You get an idea of how big some of these modern commercial fireworks are when you compare them to the lights on the fun fair rides on the horizon. The photo was taken from over two miles away across Colpoy’s Bay from the dock in the village of Colpoy’s Bay.

Great contrast of images. Love a good graveyard.
Thanks Dale. Apparently I was wrong about the fireworks, they were last night.
In aid of what?
Just part of the Village Fair. I think that’s why I thought they were tonight as a way of closing the Fair.
Nice capture of the fireworks. I like the dark cemetery against the background of lights outside it.
Thanks Frank. There was two pubs (bars) just out of shot in the brightly lit part of the village so quite a lot of activity outside the cemetery.
