This is my day four post for Becky’s January Squares: Light photo challenge.
A rider enters the start/finish straight at around midnight during the Le Mans 24 hour motorcycle race in 1982. Even in those days most endurance race bikes ran twin headlights but this machine is competing in the silhouette class where the race bike has to have the same silhouette as the production machine it’s based on. So a single headlight and only minor modifications allowed.
Nine hours down, fifteen to go.

Fabulous shot . . .endurance motorcyclists though are bonkers!!
I was involved in it. I had a hand in building the bike in the photo and pit crewed for them in some races. And yes, many of us were bonkers.
oh wow . . .man of many talents
Great action shot!
Thanks Jackie. Despite having a few nighttime motorsports photos in my archives there wasn’t many that worked as a square.
Wow, you were involved in it!!!
I knew most of the team which was also sponsored by a motorcycle magazine that I did some freelancing for.
Taken at high speed? Great job!
Thanks.
