January Squares: Inspection-light

This is day 26 and the last Sunday of Becky’s January Squares: Light photo challenge so I’m going with a shot taken in the early hours of a Sunday morning.

This is a Team Bike pit stop at around 3 o’clock in the morning. One of the pit crew is using an inspection light to check the oil level in the engine while a French official uses a torch (flashlight) to make sure the British are following the rules to the letter. I’m using inspection light although they’re known as a trouble light in Canada.

The magazine used a different shot taken at dawn when there was some natural light but the pit crew weren’t using the inspection light at that point.

You know, I never paid any attention to that. I know it was the same person most of the night into the dawn because the clothing is the same. They were probably responsible for a section of the pit lane as there’s usually only one or two teams pitting at the same time. Plus, from my experience they didn’t need to bother watching the French teams as the rules never seemed to apply to them.
