Monochrome Monday

Monochrome Monday: 3rd February 2020

Taken on a walk around the neighborhood for a photo challenge but not used.

This shot of some tree bark has since grown on me.

Ah, David, once again, great minds think alike! I’ve been looking at an older photo of tree bark that I just love, but haven’t been able to figure out how to post it – i.e., what challenge or day to link it to. Now you’ve given me some courage. Since it’s a close up of texture, I think I’ll link it to either a Macro Monday, or K’lee and Dale’s challenge this week of Nature as Art. Thank you!

I have a folder of photos that I edited for posts. Sometimes the shots don’t get used but they can work for Monochrome Monday, Silent Sunday or Wordless Wednesday.

What a brilliant idea! Here’s my quandary – I often don’t remember if I’ve previously used a photo I’ve marked as “favorite” or not. Then I have to look through the “Media” section of my blog, which can be tedious. Do you have an organizational way of dealing with that? A separate folder perhaps, marked “Previously Used”? Scrolling down through the “Media” section is often choppy, and the thumbnails are small.

Once I have used a photo in a post I move it to a folder named WordPress. I can check if I have used a photo by checking the folder.

And if I use a particular photo for a challenge I tag it with the name of the challenge in case I need a reminder of what it was used for.

Thank you! I don’t know if I have the patience to go back and put all the past photos into the folder, though it would be helpful. I might do that retro work a little at a time. But I will certainly do that with the photos going forward.

It’s something I have been doing since my first web site in the late 1990s. I try to keep organised otherwise it soon gets chaotic.
