When I read the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Art Unexpected prompt I had several ideas for a post. On Friday evening I was selecting photos for the idea I was going with.
Luckily I hadn’t started editing those photos because on Saturday morning I changed my plans for this post. Then, when the first photo l picked for the new version was square I decided that all the photos should be square.
A selection of photos of unexpected art in nature.
Waves and ripples at sunrise.
The center of a Coneflower.
Clouds at sunrise.

Beautiful texture.
Thank you.
Most welcome.
Nice selection. That barley is spectacular.
Thanks Graham. The Foxtail Barley was a last minute addition to replace a ripples on water shot as I decided I didn’t want two in the post.
Good decision!
From the comments it’s the most popular photo in the post.
What a gorgeous collection of abstracts. Especially feel for the last one
Thank you. The Foxtail Barley was a last minute addition. I had two different ripples on water and decided to replace one and went with the Foxtail Barley shot.
I’m happy you did, so we got to see it 😊
A very nice composition David. I especially like the first two which are rich in tone and texture – very impressionistic. The colors are thematic and tying them together with squares was a good decision. Nicely done. – Sandy
Thanks Sandy. The center of the Coneflower was cropped square for some reason so I thought that they should all be square. I was surprised how many I found, I could have done the contribution just using ripples and waves.
