This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Benches.
Very different benches but none of them very inviting.
When these benches were put on the mound it was dry ground walking to them. The water level in the bay has risen a lot since then. I estimate that the water level is up another 6 inches since I took the photo.
I walk past this old wooden bench a few times a week at the moment as it’s on one of my routes around the neighborhood. I hadn’t noticed how rickety it is until I spotted that the top is resting against the metal trellis. I wonder if that’s all that is holding it up.

I wouldn’t sit on your last bench. 😀 😀 Terrific photos for this week. Thanks David 😀
Thanks Cee. I wouldn’t sit on it either and the other two are currently out of bounds due to the Covid-19 state of emergency which means many of the local parks are still closed.
Is that first photo because of local flooding or has the water table permanently changed where you are?
It’s part of the Great Lakes so is subject to the same fluctuations in water level.
Ah. I see.
I really like that rickety old bench. It has a lot of character! I don’t think I would be sittin’ on it though. 🙂
I walked past it again this morning and it’s no longer leaning against the trellis so it must be sturdy enough to stand on its own. I still wouldn’t consider sitting on it.
Well, it might have more life in it than meets the eye! 🙂
