This is my contribution to the One Word Sunday prompt Umbrella.
When I read the prompt I thought of the umbrella on our patio table. We put it in the table in the spring and I don’t think it has been unfurled yet this year.
So I decided to shoot some abstracts of the folded umbrella. I started shooting them in monochrome but quickly switched to colour as I liked the contrast between the blue fabric of the umbrella and the green vegetation in the background.

Hope it gets a chance to be unfurled soon!
We don’t really need it. The patio table is on the deck which is shaded by trees a lot of the time from late morning.
ooh can I borrow it then!
You may not want it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t rotten or covered in mildew inside as it’s been rolled up so long. Given the heat and humidity we get stuff tends to get mildew or mold growing on it.
ahhh maybe not then!
I suppose now that’s occurred to me that I should check it out.
Yup!
I’m glad you went with the color. Doesn’t seem as if there’s enough texture or contrast to work well in B&W. These are nice spring colors. I think I’d open it up and see what it’s like. 🙂 Good luck.

I agree with sustainabilitea – it’s such a beautiful shade of blue. You can make a blue sky with it any time you choose!
I was thinking of monochrome because of the folds but the strip of green background helps contrast the blue.
