My Flora and Fauna Friday post this week is the Magpie Moth (Abraxas grossulariata).
A very widespread species found across Eurasia north of the Himalayas, North Africa and North America. This individual was photographed in a garden in Hatherton near Nantwich in southern Cheshire, England. It gets its common English name from the black and white pattern on its wings.

A very beautiful species! 🙂
The caterpillars are also interesting sharing a similar colour palette.

Thanks Becky. It’s one of my favourite moths for the colour and pattern.
