This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: A Cold Start prompt.

A recent cold start with a bitterly cold wind coming off the water. Dawn over Berford Lake on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada.

A cold start in the late 1990s. Sunrise reflected in a frozen and partially snow covered slough near Punnichy, Saskatchewan, Canada.

A cold start in the early 1980s. A snow and hoarfrost covered Oak tree shortly after sunrise at Hatherton near Nantwich in southern Cheshire, England.

Lovely pictures!
Thank you. I had rather a lot to select from so tried for as much variety as possible.
Wow, these are simply stunning. The colours in that second shot are amazing.
Thanks Dale. The second photo was the obvious choice so I built a post around it. I probably couldn’t handle standing around at -20°C these days.
Nope, nope, nope.
That was a typical morning temperature, it could have been -30°C or even -40° although I tend to remember the -40 days.
Yeah, just add a few more “nopes” to that, hahaha
Wow! That snow covered tree is amazing.
Thank you. I regret getting it so tight in the frame. Nowadays I would give it a bit more space around the sides and top.
I think it is an amazing photo.
Nice shots. Some very chilly photos, indeed.
Thanks Graham. I had plenty of chilly photos from Canada to pick from. A much smaller selection from the U.K.
