This is my contribution to Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge: January Close Up or Macro.
Jujubes (or Ju-jubes or JuJubes, take your pick) photographed with a cheap 35mm CCTV lens adapted to a mirrorless rather than a macro lens. An experiment that didn’t really work out as expected. The lens doesn’t seem to produce the swirly, streaking corners and edges when close focused.

Take my pick? I pick the juicy strawberry ones. (before they’re all gone) 😉
Actually, they were pretty old and tough. I picked up a small bag of them from the local Dollar Store to play around with.
Thanks for the warning. I’ve lost teeth biting into ones like that. ;(
Yes, if you want cheap props/close up subjects go to the dollar store. If you want something edible don’t go to the dollar store.
Two words for your photos “Gummy Yummy”. 😀 😀
Actually Cee I picked them up from the local dollar store so they were pretty hard and stale.
It would be interesting to see how higher priced, higher quality jujubes would look! 😍
I won’t be picking anymore up from the dollar store. Some colours were sticky and staining the glass light table I had them on. I probably spent more time cleaning the glass than photographing the Jujubes.
Aww so good a reminder!! I call them gummy bears though not shaped in gummies!
Gummy bears are much more chewy than Jujubes in this part of Ontario. I’m not a fan of either, I prefer jelly beans.
Thanks for sharing the differences. Aah jelly beans like Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch’s favorite snack😀(I hope I remember correctly!!)
I’ve no idea about that. I know they’re from a children’s T.V. show but growing up in the U.K. we may not have got the show.
I watched Sesame Street in lil red dot. I must rack my brains on this haha. You grew up in UK, classics like Dad’s Army was hilarious.
I grew up with Dad’s Army.
What I like about British humor is that the comedies are well written and played. There was a series on Mr Brown the night teacher for English classes for adult migrants. I forgot the title though!
Oh and another classic, Fawlty Towers…Mrs Bucket pronounced Mrs Bouquet haha!!
Fawlty Towers will always be a classic. I much preferred Last of the Summer Wine to Keeping Up Appearances, both were written by Roy Clarke.
Aah I must look for the 2 sitcoms by Roy Clarke. Thanks for the share.
