This is my day 8 contribution to Becky’s July Squares: Trees photo challenge.

Yes, there’s still quite a few bulk freighters on them along with plenty of smaller vessels. There’s also lots of wrecks both on shorelines and under water.

The sandy beaches attract tourists who don’t know the danger and get into trouble,. Last year seemed particularly bad for search and rescue. Then there’s the people out on the ice in winter. I’ve seen people trying to walk out to the island in the photo on snow covered, broken up ice.

Thanks Debbie. There was some interesting and unusual ice formations on the lake that spring. And living a few blocks from the shoreline meant that I could get down there regularly.
