One Word Sunday: Rest

A windblown Great Blue Heron resting on the Lake Huron shoreline in Southampton, Ontario shortly after sunrise.

I spent over an hour with the bird, slowly working my way closer. After a while it was pretty much ignoring me and was still there when I headed home for some breakfast.

This is my contribution to Debbie’s One Word Sunday: Rest prompt.

great capture, cudos for your patience. some years ago, I thought I could never spend more than a few minutes in taking a photo of an animal. little did I know that now I can squat for as long as necessary :-).

Thanks Janet. I suspect that this particular heron was digesting a good meal. It certainly wasn’t fishing and seemed quite happy just standing on the boulder and having the occasional scratch.
