Past Squares #24

January Squares: Up #12

January Squares: Up #12

Star trails over Colpoy’s Bay and the Niagara Escarpment on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. I had gone down to the bay looking for Comet Neowise and set up the camera to record the star trails.

With looking for the comet I didn’t realise that the camera had recorded over a dozen meteors. I later learned that Earth was passing through three meteor showers at the time. The light along the shoreline are a vehicle on Mallory Beach Road.

A look back at some of my personal favorite square photos from previous months of squares. Some were popular, some not so popular at the time.

This was a post in Up Squares Month and is my day 24 contribution to Becky’s October Squares on the theme of Past Squares.

Yes. I spotted a couple of the brighter, more obvious ones but had no idea that the camera had recorded so many. An amateur astronomer friend informed me that there we were passing through three meteor showers at the time.

Fairly easy with a modern Olympus that has the live composite feature. Once you’ve learned where the various settings are and how to adjust them that is. It was pretty much guesswork when I took this square.
