A Cold Start

This is my contribution to Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: A Cold Start prompt.

Four recent cold starts around the South Bruce Peninsula.

Thanks Dale. I’ve just got back from the local bay and am drying the camera and lenses out. In the past 24 hours we have had snow, snow pellets, freezing rain, rain, drizzle and mist. The mist turned to drizzle and then light rain while I was down there.

I’ve never really worked out how it works, I suspect that it’s something to do with temperature bands in the atmosphere. We can also get ice pellets, mini hailstones. We’re currently under what Environment Canada calls an abnormal temperature trend. It warmed up overnight with the temperature forecast to drop early afternoon.

I checked the forecast half an hour ago and there’s the possibility of 40 cm of snow by tomorrow afternoon. Still haven’t finished digging out from the weekend.
