Monochrome Motorsports

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Letter R.

I thought the two R in motorsports was a start. Then I found a couple of photos with more letter R in the captions.

Inhospitable Benches

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Benches.

Very different benches but none of them very inviting.

When these benches were put on the mound it was dry ground walking to them. The water level in the bay has risen a lot since then. I estimate that the water level is up another 6 inches since I took the photo.

Cee's Black and White Photo Challenge: Benches

I walk past this old wooden bench a few times a week at the moment as it’s on one of my routes around the neighborhood. I hadn’t noticed how rickety it is until I spotted that the top is resting against the metal trellis. I wonder if that’s all that is holding it up.

Monochrome Birds

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: It’s All About Nature.

I started thinking about some of the black and/or white species I have photographed over the years. Then, because I’ve been on a bit of a selective colour kick recently I considered monochrome species that have a splash of colour.

So here’s two different species in the spring, one in the U.K. and one in Canada.

Clover flower in the short grass

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Things that are Short.

I had a couple of ideas for the challenge before thinking of my ground pod, a low camera support I use for getting down to eye level with birds and mammals on the ground.

Then I remembered photographing Clover flowers a couple of times when the birds and mammals weren’t cooperating.

The Long and Sometimes Winding Road

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Things that are Long.

I had a couple of ideas for the challenge before thinking of the Beatles song The Long and Winding Road.

Head or Facial Features

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Heads or Facial Features.

One of the first photos that came to mind when I read the prompt was the colourful eyes of a Horse Fly. When I was checking out the Horse Fly portrait in my image library I scrolled past portraits of some Bison and thought the size disparity would make an interesting post.

Triple Set Double Letter Insects

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Anything with double letters.

I had a few ideas for the challenge before deciding to set a rule that a short caption for any photos should have at least two sets of double letters.

I fairly quickly found two photos of insects from my digitised slide archives that met the rule and actually had a third pair of double letters. I then gave the two photos a selective colour treatment as it’s a black and white challenge.
