I’d rather be…

The Weekly Photo Challenge is I’d Rather Be…

I’d rather be behind the camera than sitting in front of the computer editing photos.

Gray on gray.

With some black and some white. Actually the birds bill is red although you can’t tell from this photo. A winter plumage Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) on water in a thick fog taken on Hurleston Reservoir, Cheshire, England.

One from my film archives from the 1990s. Kodachrome probably although you wouldn’t know it from this shot. I do remember that I spent a lot of time racking the focus backwards and forwards as it was very difficult to focus on the bird through the fog.

Half ruled Paper Birch bark.

A photo from last weekend that I was considering for week 10 of my 52 week photo project. The pattern on the bark reminded me of ruled paper.

Surrealistic virus.

This week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge is Simply Surrealistic.

Rather than fire up Photoshop I thought of this image. Created in the darkroom five or six years before anyone had heard of Photoshop. Commissioned for the cover of a book on Influenza research it’s a heavily manipulated photo of a model of an Influenza virus.

You need an amphibious car.

Maybe there should be a “Road Closed” sign before you get to this point.

One autumn morning.

The Weekly Photo Challenge is Story.

I was down at the Lake Huron shoreline at sunrise and found some juvenile Red Knot (Calidris canutus) on autumn migration.

At sunrise one feeds and one watches me.
