Throwback Thursday

Rum and Raisin at Sunset

Throwback Thursday is traveling back to the summer of 1985.

I spent part of that summer in Ontario shooting travel and nature for two British photo agencies. This is a sunset seen from the dock in Big Bay. Close to the dock there’s a general store that sold (and still sells as far as I know) homemade ice cream. I was eating rum and raisin ice cream while photographing the setting sun.

Georgian Bay at dusk

Throwback Thursday travels back to Ontario, Canada in the summer of 1985. I spent part of the summer in Ontario shooting nature and travel photos for a couple of photo agencies.

This was a completely unplanned photo. I was about to head back to the U.K. so wanted to use up the roll of Kodachrome 64 in the camera. I went down to the Georgian Bay shoreline at dusk and used the film up.

The next day I drove into Toronto to drop all my exposed Kodachrome off at the Kodak processing plant. I picked up the processed films on my way to the airport two days later.

Sometime later this was one of the photos included in a portfolio  of my work published in a photo magazine.

Squares Challenge

Perspective on a Gravel Road

This is my day 8 contribution to Becky’s July Squares on the theme of Perspective.

This is a gravel road on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. Photographed in the summer of 1985 little did I know that 20 odd years later I would be living in the area.

The plateau on the horizon is a section of the Niagara Escarpment.
