This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: A Cold Start prompt.
A recent cold start with a bitterly cold wind coming off the water. Dawn over Berford Lake on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada.
A cold start in the late 1990s. Sunrise reflected in a frozen and partially snow covered slough near Punnichy, Saskatchewan, Canada.
A cold start in the early 1980s. A snow and hoarfrost covered Oak tree shortly after sunrise at Hatherton near Nantwich in southern Cheshire, England.
This week Ann-Christine gives up the prompt “And Here Comes the Holiday Season” for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
Given the subdued holiday season a lot of people will be having this year I thought I would look back at previous years.
After a couple of rewrites that theme morphed into this post somehow.
Christmas Eve, 2019. Colpoy’s Bay and the Niagara Escarpment on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario at sunrise.
Christmas Day, 2017. Our side road in a snow flurry in the morning. We had another 5 inches of snow after the photo was taken.
Boxing Day, 2007. Chantry Island and its lighthouse just off the Lake Huron shoreline in Southampton, Ontario at sunset.

Originally I decided to go with a small selection of the more memorable photos from this year. The first photo I picked was of clouds streaking across the sky at dusk. At that point the theme changed to some of the memorable clouds over the year.
Clouds streaking across the sky at dusk. A photo from late spring and the first time I tried the Olympus Live Composite feature. The shot that changed the theme of this post.
Taken on a walk around the neighborhood shortly after Ontario went into lockdown in the spring. With the lack of aircraft flying at the time the sky seemed bluer and the white, wispy clouds and white Paper Birch trees were a nice contrast against the blue.
Unusual lighting on storm clouds over Colpoy’s Bay and the Niagara Escarpment at sunrise in the autumn.
A summer morning when I spotted the clouds as I was heading out and made a short detour down to the bay.

I decided to keep it simple and go with a small selection of photos taken locally around the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario.

This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: Low light prompt.
On reading the prompt I thought of a couple of recent mornings when I got to a sunrise location early.
A 30 second exposure of Berford Lake at dawn.
A 13 second exposure of Colpoy’s Bay at dawn.
