Friendly Friday: Yellow

When I read the prompt for the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Yellow one subject came to mind immediately.

For the past few years I have been photographing a giant yellow butterfly garden ornament on my walks around the neighborhood. I briefly considered going with a small selection of photos of the decorative butterfly until remembering two more yellow objects I have photographed on my walks this month.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Treasure Hunt

Tina has challenged everyone to a Treasure Hunt for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

It all got a little confusing for me due to various issues unconnected with this blog. In the end I copied and pasted the list of treasure hunt items to a memo as a reminder.

Just to make things even more complicated I also made myself some rules. A set of four photos with two horizontal compositions and two vertical compositions. Also as wide a variety of techniques and subject matter as possible.

A frozen marsh at sunset, Little Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. This covers the sunset and the cold items of the treasure hunt. I’m assuming -40 degrees is cold enough.

A yellow bicycle in the snow. This covers bicycle and cold on the list of treasure hunt items. Actually, it’s the shadow of a tree on the shed that makes the shot for me.

Black and White Bicycles

When I read the prompt for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Bicycles, Tricycles, Motorcycles and Unicycles I had several ideas for a post.

Having photographed various forms of motorcycle racing in the 1970s and 1980s I had hundreds of black and white photos to pick from. So, of course, I decided to go with monochrome versions of two photos featuring bicycles from last summer.

CFFC: Fashion.

This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Fashion.

It hadn’t really registered with me until last weekend but there seems to be a new fashion in this part of Ontario, decorating the sides of sheds.

I spotted this shed when out for a walk with the camera on Saturday morning and went back yesterday morning when the light was better. The sun seems to be wondering why it’s sitting in a flotation ring.
