Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary

A small selection of photos from the Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary is within the National Wildlife Area.

The Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary was the first migratory bird sanctuary established in North America.

It is a staging area for migratory birds. In the autumn there can be hundreds of thousands of Snow Geese and tens of thousands of Sandhill Cranes using the area.

This is my contribution to the Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge: Sanctuary prompt.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Sanctuary

This is my contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Sanctuary prompt.

On reading the prompt I didn’t have any ideas for some time. Then I thought about the Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The National Wildlife Area includes the Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary, the first federal bird sanctuary in North America.
