Monochrome Monday

Monochrome Monday: 4th October 2021

Monochrome Monday: 4th October 2021

Bluewater Park in the town of Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario in fog shortly after sunrise yesterday.

I had gone down to Colpoy’s Bay in light, patchy mist but fog descended before the sun came up so I started shooting with the intention of doing monochrome conversions.

I increased the image contrast when doing the monochrome conversion but didn’t want to go too far as I wanted to show the fog.

Skate Out to the Picnic Table

This is my contribution to Debbie’s Six Word Saturday challenge and to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Things found on a picnic table or in a park prompt.

There’s nothing on this picnic table but it is in a park. Strangely, I’m writing this sitting in the same park using the WiFi hotspot as we have no internet connection at home.

Holiday Fireworks

Travel Tuesday is traveling back three years this week.

Last weekend was the Ontario Civic Holiday long weekend. This is normally the weekend of the Wiarton Rotary Village Fair. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year’s fair was cancelled.

The Rotary Club traditionally put on a firework display at the end of the fair. In 2017 I went down to the dock in the village of Colpoy’s Bay and photographed the fireworks from across the bay.

The Ferris wheel of the fair is the white circle below the fireworks. It shows how high the fireworks went and how large some of them were.

Photo Challenges

Friendly Friday: Summer Traditions

This is my contribution to the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Summer Traditions.

I had a couple of ideas for the challenge before thinking of the traditional Canada Day fireworks. I don’t know where or if there will be fireworks on Canada Day this year so here’s a look back at some from previous years.

As the 1st July fell within the week of this challenge I delayed posting until Canada Day.

Inhospitable Benches

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Benches.

Very different benches but none of them very inviting.

Cee's Black and White Photo Challenge: Tables, Chairs, Picnic Table

When these benches were put on the mound it was dry ground walking to them. The water level in the bay has risen a lot since then. I estimate that the water level is up another 6 inches since I took the photo.

Cee's Black and White Photo Challenge: Benches

I walk past this old wooden bench a few times a week at the moment as it’s on one of my routes around the neighborhood. I hadn’t noticed how rickety it is until I spotted that the top is resting against the metal trellis. I wonder if that’s all that is holding it up.
