One of the first photos that came to mind when I read the prompt was the colourful eyes of a Horse Fly. When I was checking out the Horse Fly portrait in my image library I scrolled past portraits of some Bison and thought the size disparity would make an interesting post.

Monochrome Monday is going back to Saskatchewan, Canada in the late 1990s.
I was friendly with a Bison rancher and could drive out to the herd using the ranch pickup truck as the animals were used to seeing the vehicle. I could set up a tripod in the back of the pickup and photograph the Bison at close range.
A bull Bison poses for its portrait. The way its eye is mostly closed makes me think it’s having an afternoon nap.
