Pairs

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Pairs prompt.

I decided to go with a pair of pairs as different as possible.

Bigger than a Bread Box

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Bigger than a Bread Box prompt.

This is a Citroen 2CV, also known as a Deux Chevaux (two horsepower). Launched in 1948 as a low cost, easy to maintain vehicle for farmers and others to take their produce to market. No doubt a few were used by bakers to take their bread to market.

The way the roof rolls back reminds me of the way some bread boxes open. I hadn’t noticed the picnic basket until editing the photo, bigger than a bread box and there could be bread in it.

Medieval Steps

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Steps or Ladders prompt.

This is the corner of Eastgate Street and Bridge Street in the city of Chester in Cheshire, England. The two sets of steps in this photo originated in medieval times.

The steps around the Chester High Cross are relatively modern due to it being broken up during the English Civil War. The top of the cross was saved and other pieces were discovered in the 19th century and were used in a reconstruction of the cross.

The steps leading up from street level to the first floor take you to the Chester Rows. The Rows are a series of covered walkways giving access to businesses on that level. Dating back to medieval times little is known about them and their origin is subject to much speculation.

Left Behind

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Lost or Left Behind prompt.

I had my table top studio set up when Cee posted the prompt.

There was five leftover birthday cake candles left behind from a birthday party some time ago. As they are colourful I had saved them with the idea of doing something with them. I did some full colour versions and some selective colour treatment versions.

Numbers

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Numbers prompt.

A variety of numbers taken on a couple of recent walks around the neighborhood and edited various ways.

CBWC: Numbers
A warning sign on a propane storage tank. The entire sign is bright red but I just gave the flames a selective colour treatment.
CBWC: Numbers
Site 3 sign nailed to a tree on a campground. As the sign is old and faded I edited the photo to accentuate that and make it look like an old film shot.
CBWC: Numbers
5 A reflective civic address number for an empty lot in the bush. Used by emergency services to locate an address.

Lots of numbers on a utility pole. Anyone familiar with the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy will see the answer on this pole.

Straight Up

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Vanishing Point prompt.

It’s also a contribution to Becky’s January Squares on the theme of Up.

Looking up at some bare trees on the South Bruce Peninsula in winter. Taken on a recent walk around the neighborhood with a fisheye lens on the camera.
