Week 20: Not really a sunrise

I went down to Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise on Sunday morning. I noticed an interesting cloud formation on the way. As it turned out the sunrise was almost nonexistent with very little colour due to the thick cloud. But I think that the clouds are interesting.

Not a sunrise.

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge is Liquid.

Storm clouds and light beams over Loch Arkaig in the autumn. The storm clouds are about to add more water to the Loch.

Week 19. A couple of early mornings

I was down at the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline for the sunrise a couple of times in week 19. As the sun rises around 6 a.m. at this time of year I was down there before 5:30.

The first morning was mostly cloudy with a wind so the water was quite choppy.

A spring sunrise.

The second morning had a mainly clear sky. Less windy so calmer water.

A spring sunrise.

Week 18, two more photos

A couple more photos I was considering for week 18 of my 52 week photo project.

Colpoy’s Bay at sunrise.

A spring sunrise.

And a three bird version of my pick for week 18. I actually prefer the arrangement of the birds in this version but prefer the colour and ripples in the other photo.

Three in a row.

Frozen marsh at sunset

The Daily Post one-word prompt is Frigid.

A frozen marsh at Little Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was around -40°C at sunset.

Ice makes some strange sounds at those temperatures sometimes.

The break of day

This week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge is well timed, I was about to head out to Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise when it was posted.

Waiting for the sun to rise over the Niagara Escarpment and a frozen Colpoy’s Bay.
