Soft

This week Ann-Christine gives us the prompt Soft for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

My first thought was of some of the photos I had taken last year when I was experimenting with photographing flowers and plants with various unusual lenses. Mostly fast portrait lenses but also some CCTV lenses adapted to a mirrorless camera.

Camera

This is my contribution to Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge: Words that contains two letter A’s prompt.

The first word I thought of was camera and it was an easy word to build a post around.

In the end I decided to go with a small selection of photos taken using various camera settings and techniques that show something that the human eye cannot normally see.

CMMC: Contains two A
Intentional camera movement of trees in snow using a slow shutter speed and panning the camera upwards.
Travel Tuesday: Colpoy's Bay at night
Star trails and shooting stars over Colpoy’s Bay at night using the cameras live composite setting.
Monochrome Monday: Fern Fronds
Setting a mirrorless camera to monochrome allows you to see in monochrome through the electronic viewfinder.

Setting the camera to time exposure allows a 346 second exposure of clouds moving across Colpoy’s Bay at dawn

Weekly Prompts: Greenery

This is my contribution to the Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge: Greenery.

When the challenge was posted on Saturday morning we had had 33 hours of snow and it was still snowing. Various roads in the area are closed as I work on this post.

So I decided to look back at last summer and autumn to see if there was any greenery images I had edited for a blog post and then never used. These are all from my walks around the neighborhood with a camera.

Found in the Neighborhood

This is my contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Found in the Neighborhood prompt.

I decided to keep it simple and go with a selection of photos taken on my walks around the neighborhood starting shortly after Ontario had gone into lockdown in the spring.

I then decided to select one photo from the spring, one from the summer and one from autumn.

Cosmic Photo Challenge: From an Unusual Angle

Paper Birch trees against a blue sky. Taken in the spring after a lot of the world had gone into lockdown. I noticed that the sky seemed bluer, possibly due to the lack of aircraft flying at the time.

I spent part of the summer experimenting with photographing flowers and plants with various unusual lenses when out for my walks around the neighborhood. This fern frond was taken using a fast portrait lens.

Fading Fern Frond

A quick post featuring a photo taken on a recent walk around the neighborhood. We still don’t have an internet connection so I’m using the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Fern Fronds

Monochrome Monday travels back to a walk around the neighborhood yesterday morning.

I was switching between colour and monochrome during the walk depending on the subject matter.
