Splashes and Colour

This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: A Splash of Colour prompt.

I initially went with a splash of colour before going with splashes in colour.

Throwback Thursday

Georgian Bay at dusk

Throwback Thursday travels back to Ontario, Canada in the summer of 1985. I spent part of the summer in Ontario shooting nature and travel photos for a couple of photo agencies.

This was a completely unplanned photo. I was about to head back to the U.K. so wanted to use up the roll of Kodachrome 64 in the camera. I went down to the Georgian Bay shoreline at dusk and used the film up.

The next day I drove into Toronto to drop all my exposed Kodachrome off at the Kodak processing plant. I picked up the processed films on my way to the airport two days later.

Sometime later this was one of the photos included in a portfolio  of my work published in a photo magazine.

Friendly Friday: In Transit

This is my contribution to the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: In Transit.

Once again I am playing fast and loose with the prompt with photos before or after some form of travel.

Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: In Transit

No longer in transit. There was no warning signs saying that the road was impassable. Photographed near Raymore, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: In Transit

About to be in transit. One of the campsites at the Le Mans race circuit in France after the end of a 24 hour motorcycle endurance race.

Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: In Transit

In transit to Flowerpot Island off the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada. Taking a glass bottomed boat tour to view some of the underwater wrecks before visiting Flowerpot Island.

WWE #18: Simply Ripples

This is a contribution to Jez Braithwaite’s Water Water Everywhere #18 photo challenge.

A shot from my film archives I recently digitized, ripples on Georgian Bay, Ontario. I was isolating interesting sections with a telephoto lens.

Famous

This is one of the more famous tourist attractions on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. This is one of the Flowerpots on Flowerpot Island. Flowerpot Island in in Georgian Bay and is part of the Fathom Five National Marine Park.

The Flowerpots are a type of sea stack formed over many years as the softer rock erodes leaving the harder pillar of rock standing.

Luck

I had a few ideas for the One Word Sunday challenge Luck.

Some lucky wildlife encounters, some lucky weather conditions. Then I remembered this shot. Taken in the late summer of 1985 after spending part of the summer in southern Ontario shooting wildlife, landscape and travel photos for photo libraries.

I wasn’t expecting anything of this shot, or the others from the evening. I was simply using up the roll of Kodachrome in the camera prior to taking all my exposed film to the Kodachrome lab in Toronto the next day. In the end it was included in a set of shots in a photography magazine that published a portfolio of my work a couple of years later.
