Getting Back to Basics: Blue Hour Bay

Colpoy’s Bay at twilight recently.

The light painting on the shoreline is courtesy of a vehicle driving along the road behind me.

Blue Butterfly Against A Blue Sky

Getting Back to Basics: Blue Against Blue

A giant blue butterfly garden ornament with rotational camera movement during exposure. Taken against a blue sky on the South Bruce Peninsula recently.

I had gone for a walk with the intention of shooting ICM images. The blue sky was a rare occurrence recently so rather than use a neutral density filter to reduce the light I used a polarizing filter to reduce the light while intensifying the sky.

Ice Along the Shoreline

Getting Back to Basics: Ice on the Shallows

Ice along the shoreline of Berford Lake at sunrise a couple of days ago.

An outing with my Sony back to basics kit, taken with the small, manual focus TTArtisan 17mm lens.

An Autumn Dawn

Getting Back to Basics: A Late Autumn Dawn

Colpoy’s Bay on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario at dawn recently.

After a thaw the snow on the shoreline had gone. We have been going through a snow/thaw cycle for a few weeks now.

An outing with my Olympus Back to Basics kit so this is a Back to Basics Saturday post.

Greens and Browns

Getting Back to Basics: Green moss and brown leaf litter

Moss covered boulders amongst autumn leaves on the South Bruce Peninsula. With patches of snow amongst the leaf litter.

Photographed on a recent walk around the neighborhood with a fast portrait lens on a small mirrorless camera.

More Autumn ICM

Getting Back to Basics: Another ICM Experiment

An intentional camera movement image from a recent walk around the neighborhood.

I hadn’t gone out intending to shoot ICM images, I had put the TTArtisan 35mm lens on my Sony with the intention of looking for autumn details in the thawing snow.

The Sony/35mm combination is small and light and can be tucked under my coat if the weather changes. Something that has happened a couple of times recently.
