A Dusting of Snow

Getting Back to Basics: Snow on the Shoreline at Sunrise

A dusting of snow on the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline at sunrise recently. There’s also snow on the tree shrouded Niagara Escarpment in the background.

An outing with my Sony back to basics kit. Taken with the tiny TTArtisan 35mm lens.

A Day of My Week

This week Amy has given us the prompt A Day of My Week for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

I had the idea of putting together a small camera kit and using it for everything I photographed on Sunday.

I put the kit together on Saturday evening only to change my mind and put a different kit together early Sunday morning before heading down to the local bay for the sunrise.

The kit I used was a small mirrorless Sony and four manual focus prime lenses. I decided that the post would be one photo taken with each of the lenses during the day.

Photo 2. Shortly after sunrise I took close-ups of lichen on some of the boulders along the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline. Taken with the 35mm standard lens.

Photo 3. After sunrise I moved around the bay to check out the cloud and autumn colour on the Niagara Escarpment. Golden light on a section of the Niagara Escarpment taken with the 85mm telephoto lens.

January Squares: Up #8

Fishing in the mist at sun Up.

Photographed from the Government Dock in the village of Colpoy’s Bay on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario shortly after sunrise in summer.

A look back at some of my personal favorite square photos from previous months of squares. Some were popular, some not so popular at the time.

This was a post in Up Squares Month and is my day 13 contribution to Becky’s October Squares on the theme of Past Squares.

2021 and a July Squares: Trees

An exploding tree?

The rising sun shines through a fog shrouded tree near the village of Colpoy’s Bay on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario.

A look back at some of my personal favorite square photos from previous months of squares. Some were popular, some not so popular at the time.

This was a supplemental square in Tree Squares Month and is my day 12 contribution to Becky’s October Squares on the theme of Past Squares.

Fly Agaric

Flora and Fauna Friday: Fly Agaric

My Flora and Fauna Friday post this week is the Fly Agaric fungi (Amanita muscaria).

These two specimens were photographed on Bickerton Hill in southern Cheshire, England in autumn.

Taken shortly after sunrise in warm light. Unfortunately the slugs and snails had been eating them overnight so I tried to compose the photos to hide as much of the damage as possible.

Reflected in the Bay

WWE: Reflected in the Bay

The Niagara Escarpment and Wiarton Marina reflected in Colpoy’s Bay shortly after sunrise last Sunday.

There’s some very light mist coming off the water which I think adds to the calm mood of the image.

This is my contribution to Jez’s Water Water Everywhere #95 photo challenge.
