Golden Light on the Niagara Escarpment

A patch of golden light on a section of the Niagara Escarpment at sunrise. Although it’s about the light on the clouds as much as the light on the landscape.

One Word Sunday

On reading the prompt for One Word Sunday: Knot it was ìnevitable that I would go with a photo or two of Red Knot I photographed on the Lake Huron shoreline in Southampton early one autumn morning.

One Word Sunday: Knot

One of the juvenile Red Knot in golden light on the Lake Huron shoreline in Southampton, Ontario. I had gone down to the shoreline for the sunrise but spent the time photographing the Red Knot instead.

Cee's Fun Foto Challenge: Letter K

After feeding, bathing and preening while I took photos this one settled down for a nap. At which point I headed home to get some breakfast.

Friendly Friday: Simple Joys

When considering the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Simple Joys prompt I remembered going down to the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline for the sunrise and the joy of being entertained by a Belted Kingfisher pretending to be a Barn Swallow by sitting on a power line along the road.

That made me wonder what the sunrise had been like and what else I had photographed that day. That then got me thinking about coming home from another sunrise and spotting two Sandhill Cranes in a hay field in nice early morning light.

That was on the 4th August 2018 so here’s a selection of simple joys from that day.

Fog and low cloud.

The simple joy of a black and white photo of the mist and low cloud over the Niagara Escarpment across the bay.

Golden light on some autumn colour.

An evening walk during week 37 saw me on a little used gravel road through the bush.

The low sun was shining through the trees and illuminating some early autumn colour on a tree at the side of the road.

52 week photo project

Week 37. Golden light on an old barn.

Alternatively, 30 minutes before sunset as a follow-up to week 36.

An evening of week 37 saw me on a local back road. I noticed that the low sun was casting long shadows and illuminating a barn and surrounding trees with golden light.
