This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: Shades of Grey prompt.
Of course, with a prompt like that you would expect monochrome images so I’m going in a completely different direction, Grey (or Gray) wildlife.
An immature Grey Heron in fog at a reservoir in south Cheshire, England. The original is on Kodachrome.
A Grey Squirrel eating an acorn in a Cheshire, England garden. A species introduced from North America. They have decimated the population of the native Red Squirrel in the U.K. due to a combination of competition and a virus that the Grey Squirrel carries but is immune to.
An Eastern Gray Squirrel photographed in Saskatchewan, Canada. The same species as the Grey Squirrel in the Cheshire garden but note that the spelling of Gray changed with the change of continents. This individual was eating Saskatoon berries at -30°C in winter.
