Trees in the Snow

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Hot or Cold Things prompt.

I decided it was going to be an image from my archives. In fact I’m going almost as far back as I can go in my archives.

The original version of this image was taken in the mid 1970s on a Zenit E camera. Those negatives got damaged (or lost, I have forgotten what actually happened to them). So when I got an Olympus OM1 in 1976 I reshot the scene at the first opportunity.

Hoarfrost on Hart’s-tongue Fern

This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Special Request: Wilting, dead or aging flowers and leaves.

This is a hoarfrost covered Hart’s-tongue Fern. A monochrome original I gave it a blue tint to give it a colder mood.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Light and Dark

This is my contribution to the A Photo a Week Challenge: Light and Dark.

The prompt got me thinking about some of the nighttime photos from my film archives that I started digitising last winter.

Friendly Friday: Surprise

This is my contribution to the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Surprise.

Something different from me for a surprise, a post about being surprised by some of the photos I have discovered while digitising my film archives.

When I was digitising some of my black and white negatives I discovered a photo of a camera bag in snow taken in the early 1980s. Shortly after that I was backing up photos on an old tablet and discovered another photo of a camera bag in snow. At that point I realised I had quite a few photos of various camera bags in snow taken over the decades.

I don’t know why I took them unless it was simply a record of the conditions. So a thought a selection of the photos would be a surprising contribution to the challenge.

Abandoned crofters cottage

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Decayed or Rusty.

When I read the prompt I thought of a favourite photo that would work well for the prompt. An abandoned crofters cottage on the Isle of Skye I photographed 40 years ago.

The problem was I only had a low quality digital version, a copy of a slide that was a copy of a print from the negative. I had gone through my negative files twice without finding the original negative. So I went through the files a third time, determined to find the negative which I eventually did.

Monochrome Monday: 4th May 2020

Monochrome Monday travels back to the early 1980s as I continue the exploration of my black and white negative files.

This is hoarfrost on Privet leaves. Photographed in the winter in a Hatherton, Cheshire garden. The vertical version of this photo has long been a favourite, I didn’t realise I had also taken a horizontal version until I started going through my black and white negatives recently.

Monochrome Motorcycles

For my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Anything with a Motor or Engine I decided to go with a small selection of photos of various motorcycles. After all, they have motor in the name.
