Getting Back to Basics: Green moss and brown leaf litter

Moss covered boulders amongst autumn leaves on the South Bruce Peninsula. With patches of snow amongst the leaf litter.

Photographed on a recent walk around the neighborhood with a fast portrait lens on a small mirrorless camera.

Basically Two Colours

This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Basically Two Colours prompt.

Two recent photos, one taken on a walk around the neighborhood and one taken in the studio.

Is this the new plastic water bottle?

2021: The new universal litter?

A discarded, disposable facemask photographed on a recent walk around the neighborhood.

Twelve months ago I couldn’t have said if the Tim Hortons coffee cup or a plastic water bottle was the most common piece of litter in Canada.

However, over the past few months I have seen an increasing number of these disposable facemasks littering this part of Ontario.

Green on Brown

2021: Green on Brown

A green fern frond above brown leaf litter. I rather like the light filtering through the overhead trees.

Taken on a recent walk around the neighborhood testing the TTArtisan 50mm lens wide open at f/1.2.

Leaf Litter Patterns

Intentional camera movement of leaf litter in woodland.

I had been doing ICM of trees in spring with a wide angle lens and noticed the patterns made by the leaf litter under the trees. So I tried a few ICM images of just the leaf litter.

Some Recent Photos

This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: Freestyle prompt.

I decided to go with a small selection recent photos that I had edited to use in various posts and then never used.

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Freestyle

Browns and Greens. An intentional camera movement photo of leaf litter and spring greenery.

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Freestyle

Monochrome Fence. An old fence shortly after sunrise converted to monochrome using a blue filter to make the fence posts lighter than the surrounding vegetation. It almost looks like a black and white negative.

Dappled Sunlight on the Ivy. Taken on a recent walk around the neighborhood testing the TTArtisan 35mm lens.

Streaking Over the Dock. A two minute live composite exposure of clouds moving across Colpoy’s Bay at sunrise. With grey skies I was shooting with the intention of doing monochrome conversions.

Ultra Wide ICM

Another of my experiments with intentional camera movement.

This was an experiment using an ultra wide angle lens on the camera. The wide vertical view shows a lot of foreground and I rather like the pattern of the mostly shadowed leaf litter makes. There’s a few well camouflaged Daffodils in the foreground.
