One Word Sunday

On reading the prompt Drama for One Word Sunday I thought of some of the dramatic skies I have photographed.

With storm clouds and colourful clouds at sunset I had quite a few to pick from so I went with some storm clouds close to sunset.

Photo Challenges

A Photo a Week Challenge: Water

This is my contribution to the A Photo a Week Challenge: Water.

Having been living and photographing around water for decades I decided to go with a small selection of my favourites.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Magical.

This is my contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Magical.

I was thinking about the challenge and had this post mostly written in my head on Sunday evening. On Monday I started considering a completely different selection of photos before deciding to combine my ideas.

My original ideas was to detail some of the magical experiences photographing nature subjects. Then I started thinking about some of the magical landscapes and skies I have photographed.

In the end I went with a mix of nature encounters and landscapes.

Tuesday Photo Challenge - Vista

Pond Skaters, not only can they walk on water, they also mate on the water. Taken on a garden pond in Hatherton, Cheshire, England.

An Osprey with a White Sucker on the Lake Huron shoreline, Ontario, Canada. Not only can the bird spot and catch a fish in rough water but it can then carry the fish in the most aerodynamic position.

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Vista

My contribution to the Tuesday Photo Challenge – Vista.

Originally I was planning on using a small selection of shots from some of the locations I have lived in over the years. However, the challenge is vista, not vistas so I decided to go with a single image.

I thought it was was going to be hard picking a single image but in the end there was an obvious choice.

Storm clouds and light beams, Loch Arkaig, Lochaber, Scotland. Taken in the autumn of 1985 this shot was later published worldwide by Olympus Japan and won a national photo contest in the U.K.

A cloud or a swarm?

Taken on a recent evening walk. The streaks are insects illuminated by one of the beams of sunlight shining through the trees. I’m not sure if it qualifies as a swarm or if it’s a cloud.
