Natural Patterns on the Bay

This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Patterns in Nature prompt.

I had a few ideas for the challenge before thinking of some of the ripples on Colpoy’s Bay I had photographed in the six months the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted a little.

Weekly Prompts

2020: Mornings

This is my contribution to the Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge: Morning.

I decided to look back at some of the mornings I was out with a camera in 2020.

Wordless Wednesday: 26th February 2020

Down to the local bay at dawn before Ontario went into lockdown. Snow and ice on the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline at sunrise.

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Midsummer

Monochrome Monday: 12th October 2020

With some of the lockdown restrictions lifted I could go down to some sections of the local bay for the sunrise again. Storm clouds over Colpoy’s Bay at sunrise.

Monochromatic Ripples

This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Water prompt and also my contribution to Jez Braithwaite’s Water Water Everywhere #54 Photo Challenge.

One from my slide archives I discovered while looking for abstract photos. It may not look like it’s a colour original but this is a Kodachrome slide that hasn’t been converted to monochrome.

The ripples were photographed on the River Weaver in southern Cheshire, England in the mid 1980s. The more I look at the photo the more the ripples remind me of old fashioned cobblestones.

WWE #54: Monochromatic Ripples

A is for Abstract

This is my contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: An Alphabet Challenge – Subjects That Begin with the Letter A prompt.

I enjoy these sort of challenges as it allows me to come up with a theme. Sometimes I take a sideways look at the prompt and head off in a direction that only has a tenuous connection to the challenge.

I had a couple of ideas for the challenge before thinking of abstract images. Possibly because I had photographed a few abstract images of ripples on the local bay this past summer and autumn.

I briefly considered a post exclusively of ripples but decided that would be more appropriate if the prompt was the letter R.

In the end I decided to go with a small selection of photos taken over the past 35 years.

Foxtail Barley. Detail of the seed heads, it was more about the colour than the plant.
