Lens-Artists Photo Challenge – Delicate.

My contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge Delicate.

I had a few ideas for the challenge before deciding to go with a variety of images that I would describe as delicate in some way.  Two of the shots are from the 52 week photo project that I did last year while another dates back to 1987.

The new Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is Walks, Trails, Sidewalks.

Not the most appropriate challenge for someone currently stuck in a hospital bed but I can’t resist a challenge.

I had a few ideas but in the end went with my first one. I can’t explain why the snow didn’t stick to the trails through the trees. As the trails are sand maybe the sand was to damp or to warm.

A Canadian Camera Bag Requirement.

The new Weekly Prompt Photo Challenge is Advertising.

I had a few ideas for the challenge including a variety of motorsports images featuring varying degrees of advertising.

Then I looked out of the patio doors and it was snowing again. Which made me think of this photo. Taken in mid December, a week before the start of winter I could repeat the shot today, nearly a week into spring. A couple of days ago the bag was sitting on the frozen surface of Colpoy’s Bay, Ontario at sunrise. A snow and rain resistant camera bag is a requirement for an outdoor photographer in Canada.

This is my Domke F-2 camera bag in what they call RuggedWear. Anyone familiar with the waxed cotton jackets made by Belstaff and Barbour in Britain will recognise the material the bag is made from. The bags come with a tin of wax to reproof the canvas.

With waxed cotton having a long history of being used for waterproof clothing and having had a Belstaff jacket in the 1970s and 1980s the idea of a camera bag made from similar material appealed. It’s ideal for the Canadian weather.

The fourth day of Spring.

I went down to the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline for the sunrise this morning. Between an ongoing health issue and limited access to the shoreline due to snow and ice it was the first chance I’ve had to get down there recently.

Not the most spectacular sunrise and it was bitterly cold down on the shoreline but it was still nice to be out with the camera. Ice on Colpoy’s Bay with snow on the shoreline and the Niagara Escarpment on the horizon.
