Black and white branches

You may think that this is a late Monochrome Monday post but it’s actually an almost monochrome Tuesday post.

This isn’t a monochrome conversion, it’s the full colour version taken on a walk last Wednesday afternoon. I was struck by the amount of snow on the thin branches.

Week 48: A spot of colour in the snow

Wednesday afternoon of week 48 saw me going for a walk looking for details in the snow.

About halfway along the walk I spotted this leaf clinging on to the snow covered branch. I took a few variations of the leaf and snow covered branches but as is often the case it was the first version I picked.

I did a selective colour treatment of it as there was just enough colour in the background to be distracting.

Week 47: Snow covered shoreline at dawn

Saturday morning of week 47 saw me down at Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise. I wasn’t planning on being down there as the weather forecast was for rain starting before sunrise. I checked the local weather when the alarm went off which was reporting mostly cloudy but dry so I decided to head out.

I get the current weather conditions from the nearest Environment Canada Weather Station which is at Wiarton Airport. The airport is across Colpoy’s Bay on top of the Niagara Escarpment. In this shot the airport is to the left of the right hand tree.

The band of clear sky over the Niagara Escarpment didn’t last long before it was full cloud cover. The dark specks on the foreground snow are seeds from one of the trees on the shoreline.

Snow on the shoreline in blue

A shot from Sunday afternoon of week 46. I was shooting with the intention of converting the shots to monochrome and gave this shot a blue tone.

The footprints in the snow aren’t mine. They annoyed me a little when I took the shots and was considering removing them but now they don’t bother me.
