Monochrome Monday

Monochrome Monday: 11th May 2020

This week’s Monochrome Monday is from a walk around the neighborhood a few days ago.

Given how blue the skies have been recently I thought a monochrome conversion darkening the sky would be interesting. Plus a spot of colour from the giant red butterfly garden ornament I frequently walk past would add to the spot colour trend I have been on recently.

Signs in the Snow

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: All Sorts of Signs.

I find both these signs amusing in the winter. I gave them both a spot colour treatment for a splash of colour in the snow.

This warning sign of a 90 degree bend on a local back road is slightly deceiving. If you turn right you head towards the nearest town. Turning left takes you onto a narrow, dead end gravel road that may or may not be passable without a 4×4 due to snow drifts. Some years it also gets washed out during the spring thaw.

These No Parking signs on a utility pole must be so people don’t park on the chest high snow bank.

Red Double-decker

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Public transportation (bus, planes, trains, etc).

You may wonder why the title is Red Double-decker when it’s a black and white challenge. It’s because this photo of a red London double-decker bus on Westminster Bridge in front of the Houses of Parliament came to mind straight away. I decided to go with a monochrome conversion with the bus picked out in spot colour.
