This is my contribution to the A Photo a Week Challenge: Signs.
There used to be a giant Foodland sign on the front of this abandoned grocery store along with a variety of signs in the windows and on the walls.
Now there are Private Property, No Trespassing signs on the building and utility pole. They were put up because some local kids were using the empty parking lot to skateboard on.
This is the abandoned grocery store in the town of Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada.
It has been standing empty for years getting increasingly derelict. The roof was leaking badly when it was still in use as a grocery store so it’s probably no better inside than it looks on the outside.

This is the abandoned grocery store in Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula. It’s been standing empty for years and the roof was leaking badly when it was still in use so the building is probably beyond repair by now.
When it was in use a lot of groceries passed through the doors, especially in the tourist season.
This is my contribution to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Squares and Rectangles.
Lots of rectangles and a few squares on Berford Street, Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula. After moving to the area 11 years ago the idea of a smoke shop and pool hall combination seemed old fashioned and now there’s a pawn shop next to it.
Honestly, it seems like the town of Wiarton is stuck in a time warp, going backwards in time while the rest of the county moves ahead.
This is my contribution to the Weekly Prompts Photo Challenge: Rectangular Prism.
I thought that I would have some fun with the prompt. Here’s a variety of rectangles with the skeleton of a triangular prism above them.
Actually, it’s a local eyesore, a long abandoned grocery store in Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. I tried a monochrome conversion of the shot but the colour version makes it look more of an eyesore.
This is my contribution to the Weekly Prompts Photo Challenge: Store Displays.
My plan was to go down to Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise, go for a coffee while waiting for the town to wake up and then go for a walk around town photographing some of the store displays that line parts of the sidewalk (pavement to the Brits).
Sunday morning produced a nice sunrise and a warm morning with a mix of sun and cloud. Ideal for a wander around town after a coffee and cinnamon raisin bagel.
This was the front of the Dollar Store when I first walked down the main street. Just a box of scarecrows on the sidewalk.
Meanwhile on the side of main street I was walking down I nearly got run down by a loaded trolley coming out of one of the stores. I stepped backwards out of the way just as the person pulling it looked behind. This is one of the later trolleys being brought out onto the sidewalk.
Walking back along main street there’s a lot more stuff cluttering up the sidewalk outside the Dollar Store. So much that one item is in front of the neighbouring business.
