Blue and Green

This week Tina gives us the prompt Blue and Green for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

Having been down to the local bay at dawn a few hours before Tina posted the prompt I decided to see what else I could come up with over the Victoria Day long weekend in Canada.

Lens-Artists: Blue and Green

Streaking Clouds in the Blue Hour. A live composite exposure of clouds moving across Colpoy’s Bay at dawn on Saturday morning.

Variegated Hosta Leaves

Spotted on a walk around the neighborhood yesterday evening.

I had gone for the walk with the intention of doing some intentional camera movement shots of the leaf litter amongst the trees. But when I spotted these Hosta leaves I had to stop and take a few photos.

There’s something about the variegated leaves that make them much more visually interesting to me than regular Hosta leaves.

Photo Challenges

2020: Natural Detail

This is my contribution to the Friendly Friday Challenge Review 2020.

I decided to go with the theme of details of the natural world. A small selection of photos from 2020.

Silent Sunday: 3rd May 2020

The green moss and orange lichen on a limestone boulder caught my eye on a walk in the spring.

CBWC: Hosta Leaves Detail

Early summer saw me experimenting with the monochrome options on a mirrorless camera. Variegated Hosta leaves in monochrome.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Negative Space

Summer also saw me experimenting with photographing flowers and plants with various unusual lenses. A Coneflower photographed with a fast portrait lens wide open.

A sign of autumn.

Late summer saw the leaves starting to change colour. This solitary orange Maple leaf caught my eye when I was walking past it.

Variegated Hosta Leaves

This is my contribution to Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Close Ups prompt.

I spent some time in the summer photographing Hosta leaves growing around the neighborhood with a variety of unusual lenses.

Creativity in the Time of Covid

This is my contribution to the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Creativity in the Time of Covid prompt.

I decided to keep it simple and go with a small selection of photos taken during my time in lockdown.

On the Hunt for Joy Challenge: Mix Play with Everyday
Clouds streaking across the sky at dusk. I used the live composite setting on my Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II. All my sunrise and sunset locations were closed so I set up in a gap in the trees around the yard.
Cosmic Photo Challenge: From an Unusual Angle
Paper Birch trees against a blue sky on the South Bruce Peninsula. I was going for regular walks around the neighborhood. Sometimes the sky seemed deeper blue than normal. Possibly due to the lack of aircraft flying at the time.
Wordless Wednesday: 15th April 2020
Close up of a Pine cone. I set up a table top studio and photographed things that I had picked up on my walks around the neighborhood.
Cee's Black and White Photo Challenge: Close ups or macros
Variegated Hosta leaves in monochrome. I experimented with setting my mirrorless Olympus camera to monochrome.
