Skyline

This is my contribution to the One Word Sunday prompt Skyline.

I decided to go with a local skyline with some interesting geology.

This is the Niagara Escarpment in autumn with Wiarton Marina below. This is the same escarpment the the Niagara River flows over at Niagara Falls on the Canada/U.S. border. The escarpment starts and ends in the U.S. after traveling across part of southern Ontario and forming the eastern side of the Bruce Peninsula. You can see sections of the limestone face of the escarpment through the trees.

Splashes of Colour at Sunrise

This is my contribution to the Cosmic Photo Challenge: A Splash of Colour prompt.

I had a couple of ideas for the challenge before heading down to the dock at Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise on Saturday morning. It was mostly cloudy and grey over the bay with small splashes of colour.

That made me think of this challenge and some other recent cloudy sunrises.

Not How It Appears In Reality

A visit to the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline at sunrise last Sunday morning and another photo taken with my fisheye lens.

I parked at the side of the road along the shoreline where the breakwater for Wiarton Marina sticks out into the bay. The breakwater is roughly 90 degrees from the shoreline but the distortion caused by extreme angle of view of the fisheye lens makes it look as if the shoreline and breakwater form a U rather than an L.

Friendly Friday: Whereabouts

This is my contribution to the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Whereabouts.

As it’s currently autumn in the northern hemisphere I thought about some of the places that I have lived in and taken photos of in the autumn.

October Squares: Lines at the Marina

This is my contribution to day 14 of Becky’s October Squares: Lines photo challenge.

Taken yesterday morning after going down to the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline for the sunrise.

After the sun was up I made a short detour to check the autumn colour on the Niagara Escarpment. I noticed that the masts of the boats moored at the Wiarton Marina made a nice line of lines for the challenge.
