Soft Clouds and Water

A recent visit to Colpoy’s Bay for the sunrise saw me using the Live Composite setting on an Olympus camera. I was doing 5 to 8 minute exposures in an attempt to show the clouds moving across the sky.

With very little movement in the clouds the long exposures were mostly softening the clouds rather than showing movement. The long exposure also softened the water and reflections on the water.

Five Minutes and Little Movement

Last Saturday morning I went down to Colpoy’s Bay at dawn. With quite a lot of cloud cover I was thinking of doing some long exposures of the clouds streaking across the bay.

However I quickly discovered that the clouds were barely moving. This is a 5 minute live composite exposure that shows hardly any movement in the clouds.

Old Wooden Piles at Sunrise

Travel Tuesday this week is continuing my look back at some of the overlooked photos from the 52 week photo project I did in 2018.

Early May saw me down on the Colpoy’s Bay shoreline at sunrise. I used my telephoto zoom to isolate the old wooden piles sticking out of the water with the sunrise reflected in the bay.

Colpoy’s Bay on the 8th May 2021

I went down to Colpoy’s Bay at sunrise with the intention of doing some long exposures of the clouds streaking across the sky.

However, even an 8 minute exposure hardly showed any movement in the clouds so here’s a normal photo of the sunrise.

Bright Horizon

This is my day 16 contribution to Becky’s April Squares on the theme of Bright.

Cloudless at Dawn

Travel Tuesday this week is traveling back just over three years to Colpoy’s Bay at dawn in late autumn.

The water level in the bay has risen since this photo was taken and the old wood piles are now less visible.

Blue Hour Clouds

Travel Tuesday is traveling back to Colpoy’s Bay at dawn one year ago this week.

This is a small park in the town of Wiarton on the South Bruce Peninsula. Bylaws introduced at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic put the park out of bounds. Then a big construction project on the highway through town also means a significant detour to access the park now there is some access.
